Different Types of Home Elevators
Home elevator is
trending for their handiness and energy saving too. Though most of the
elevators will serve the basic purpose of lifting to a specific height, there
are added features that make the differences between several types
We can broadly classify the
elevators offered by home elevator company into four major categories namely:
Hydraulic
A combined use of technology of
hydraulic system and roped system, hydraulic elevators
are most preferred form of home elevators. The hydraulic pump in the elevator
is networked into a connection with the piston and a pulley. Several brackets
are used to connect the hoist on the piston. The piston is placed on the
pedestal and has several brackets to support them. Steel cables are
appropriately used to tighten the shaft and the sling. The sling which is found
in the shape of L is used as the platform to place the cab firmly. Thus one can
be assured of smooth glide through the many floors without any kind of jerks.
Pneumatic
It is the recent trend in home
elevator segment. It comes with a polycarbonate tube and work through air
pressure. A separate tube is placed inside which works as the cab for the
elevator. It is also called as the vacuum elevator and does not require any
kind of attachment like chain, cable, and piston and so on. Perfectly fitting
parts are assembled to form the tube for the vacuum elevator so that the air
pressure is maintained in a balanced manner both above and below the cab. The
cab is hoisted upwards when the pressure is declined at the space above the
cab. The cab is descended when the pressure is slowly released which causes a
cushion like atmosphere under the cab.
Winding
Drum
It is designed using the old
method wherein a revolving cinch is used and some counterweights are added. The
cable is wound around the drum. Electric motor is attached to it. The motor is
often installed at the top of the hoist or even under it. This saves space as a
separate room for the machine is not essential. Though this type does come with
a cheaper price tag, you will experience a noisy and relatively rough ride.
Another major drawback for this type is that the halting point is often
unpredictable. The exit point can change in levels which depend on the load
inside the elevator.
Counterweight
They are popularly known as the
electric elevator. The cab of the elevator is suspended on the shaft and
counterweight is used to pull the shaft up and release them down. As they do
not use oil and are frequently prone to suspension they are not regarded as
safe. Such type of elevators is not used in earthquake prone regions.
